Housing policy that actually helps

Recently, Congress passed a housing bill to reduce red tape, lower costs, and make building new housing faster and easier.

Oregon has seen rising home prices and high rent, as well as lack of assistance programs for people experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness. As the cost of living increases, families are trying to stretch their resources to cover their expenses.

That's why we passed the 21st Century Road to Housing Act. We're removing barriers to increase the housing supply, streamlining regulations, curbing corporate landlords by restricting their ability to buy up single-family homes, and getting creative by updating zoning ordinances that allow new housing types such as ADUs.

This is a game-changing housing policy, and one of the very few bi-partisan accomplishments of this Congress. I will work with members of any party to pass good legislation, but in this chaotic Congress, Mike Johnson would rather send members home early than work for progress.
