Add your name: It’s time for Linda McMahon to go

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon is shutting down the Department of Education, something she does not have the right to do, so I introduced a resolution to impeach her.

Students deserve better than Linda McMahon, and it's time for her to go. Add your name here in support if you agree.

Sec. McMahon is a billionaire friend and ally of Donald Trump, who put her in this position to do his bidding. So far, she's overseen mass layoffs and resignations so harmful that the Department can't do its job. She's moved more than 100 programs Congress put at the Department of Education to other agencies, creating chaos, confusion, and inefficiencies.

The Secretary is trying to justify shutting down the DOE by saying she wants to "return education to the states." Don't be fooled. States already have the responsibility for curriculum decisions, licensing, and most of the funding. The federal government provides funding to close opportunity gaps, enforce civil rights, and conduct important education research.

When she announced that she is outsourcing the Office of Civil Rights to Trump's Department of Justice and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to Secretary RFK, Jr., I couldn't just stand by. This is unacceptable.

I attended public schools, and so did my children. About 90% of all students and 95% of students with disabilities attend public schools. Public schools serve every student, and those students deserve better.

If you agree, add your name in support of Sec. McMahon's impeachment.

Thank you for standing with me in the fight for public education,

Suzanne
