I’m not attending the State of the Union
I'm skipping tomorrow's State of the Union address and instead spending time talking with my constituents in a telephone town hall meeting with Oregon's Attorney General Dan Rayfield.
I've listened to President Trump over the past year, and I've heard vitriol and countless lies. Oregonians want solutions, not a long-winded, divisive lecture.
My constituents want lower costs, investments in infrastructure, affordable housing and childcare, a healthy planet, good public schools, and a just and fair immigration system.
Unfortunately, Trump and the extremist majority are more interested in causing chaos and getting media attention than working together on those critical issues.
It's clear that the president is ignoring the law and the Constitution, threatening free and fair elections, and using his position to enrich himself, his billionaire buddies, and his family. I will not sit in the House chamber while he lies to the American people.
Thank you for standing with me,
Suzanne
