I'll defend Oregon's vote-by-mail system
President Trump is pushing Republicans in Congress to ban mail-in voting across the country.
Here's a better idea.
I'm cosponsoring the Vote at Home Act to protect voting access and strengthen democracy.
Under a plan proposed by House Republicans, burdensome regulations would deter millions of eligible voters from voting, including up to 69 million married women who've changed their last names and about 140 million Americans who don't have a passport.
In Oregon, we've been voting by mail for decades, and we've had automatic voter registration for years. Oregon has some of the highest turnout and most secure elections in the country. Creating a system that encourages people to vote is safe and effective. We've proven that.
Drowning voters in red tape is all part of Trump's plan because disenfranchising voters works in his favor. It's a voter suppression tactic that especially harms communities of color, rural Americans, and women.
The Vote at Home Act will make voting easy, secure, and accessible to all citizens.
Thank you for standing with me,
