National paid sick leave would make a big difference

Right now, Coronavirus, or COVID-19, has spurred a global health crisis. Care providers, legislators, and experts agree that an essential component of prevention is missing: national paid sick leave.

But it's not just about Coronavirus; paid sick leave:

  • has reduced flu rates where it's provided,
  • reduces costs of emergency health care services,
  • saves employers money by reducing turnover costs of replacing workers,
  • helps protect the paychecks and employment of survivors of domestic violence, and
  • helps family caregivers.

Despite the benefits of paid sick leave, American employees without paid sick leave must go to work to provide for their families – despite being ill, and possibly contagious. Today, stand with them and sign the petition and urge Congress to pass legislation to provide national paid sick leave.
