Another devastating proposal from the Trump Administration

When I was an advocate at Legal Aid, many of our clients found themselves facing bankruptcy because medical bills created stress and financial hardships they could not manage. That's no way for anyone to live.

The Affordable Care Act has made many positive changes: allowing young people to stay on their parents' health insurance as they navigate early adulthood, making insurance accessible to people with pre-existing conditions, and reducing the burden on emergency providers through preventive care. We still have a lot of work to do to make sure that health care is affordable and accessible for every American, but we must resist the Trump administration's efforts to take us back to the pre-ACA days.

Despite our progress, and without regard to the millions of Americans who now rely on the program, President Trump is still trying to dismantle the ACA. This effort at maximizing insurance industry profits by denying care to the sick and vulnerable would have a devastating and immediate effect:

  • As many as 21 million Americans would lose their health insurance coverage;
  • Up to 109 million Americans would be harmed by coverage caps, after which their insurance won't pay for treatment;
  • As many as 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions could be disqualified or priced out of getting any insurance at all.

We can come together and fight for access to health care for all, and we can defend the ACA. We have before, and we will every time someone threatens vulnerable Americans.

Sign the petition: Stop attacking the sick and vulnerable, Trump. Don't repeal the ACA.
