Making history

This 116th Congress is making history, and the Democratic freshman class offers a lot of firsts.

First Native American women.

First Somali-American.

First Muslim women.

First woman under 30.

There were firsts by state, too: first Latinas in Texas and first black congresswomen in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.

But it's not just the firsts that make me proud to be surrounded by the largest group of Congresswomen in history.

Women made HISTORY in this new Congress. And we're ready to get to work.

It's the hope, imagination, and commitment that these amazing new colleagues bring to the debate. It's the spark that was just ignited in the hearts of young leaders across the country. It's every door that is now open for diverse Americans who have been – and felt – left out.

These new leaders are bringing fresh perspectives that will help women break through a world of glass ceilings. It's about time.

Your commitment and enthusiasm helped us to achieve this.

As always, thank you for standing with me in this fight,

Suzanne
