Tell Betsy DeVos to protect public education
I am the proud product of the public school system, and my kids went to public schools too. Every child should have the same chance we did to attend great public schools and receive a quality education.
More than 90 percent of students attend public schools, but Betsy DeVos is trying to direct our taxpayer dollars to subsidize private education. Public schools are essential to our American values, and that's why I won't back down in my fight to protect funding for public education.
Our Education Secretary doesn't have a lot of experience with public schools, but I do. And I have confidence in our communities. Instead of giving tax breaks to the wealthiest, let's commit to giving schools the resources they need to reduce class sizes, have safe drinking water, meet the needs of students with disabilities, and provide a well-rounded education to every student regardless of background or zip code. There are challenges to overcome, but that's why we need to direct our energy and resources to the public schools.
Betsy DeVos does not share our core value of providing excellent public schools for children of every background.
