One question that can change everything:
There's "One Key Question” that can dramatically improve women's health.
"Would you like to become pregnant in the next year?”
Some health care providers ask this question of women in Oregon, and I'm fighting to make it a best practice across the country.
Here's how it works: If the answer is "Yes,” the health care provider will offer resources to prepare for a healthy pregnancy. "No?” The health care provider offers a range of contraceptive options.
The goal is to make pregnancy planning part of primary care, and make sure more pregnancies are wanted, planned, and healthy.
It all started when the Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health developed an initiative for pregnancy intention screening – and we've seen positive results.
This model program puts reproductive health care front and center for women. As the Trump administration continues to attack women's health care, I'm standing up for this positive, empowering initiative that benefits families and communities.
