Sign the petition: Save the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau!
We chip away at the promise of the American dream when mortgage servicers, payday lenders, and unscrupulous debt collectors get away with unfair or deceptive practices. Unfortunately, that happened frequently during the 2008 financial crisis, and too many people lost their homes and faced financial ruin.
Thankfully, American consumers won with the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The non-partisan CFPB was championed by Senator Elizabeth Warren and has been a watchdog for consumers. By making sure that financial companies act within the law, the CFPB has been able to return billions of dollars to families, homeowners, students, and seniors.
But next week House Republicans will try to pass the Financial CHOICE Act and dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I started my career at Legal Aid, and then worked as a consumer protection attorney. I've seen firsthand what happens when unscrupulous businesses take advantage of consumers. In Congress, I've joined forces with Senator Warren to protect student loan borrowers who face skyrocketing fees, and I'll stand with her to defend the CFPB from partisan attacks.
There is a lot at stake – we must fight back – please sign the petition to protect the CFPB!
