Petition: Act now for Flint

What’s going on in Flint, Michigan is appalling

So many people have been exposed to toxic lead in their drinking water, including almost 9,000 children. That’s a whole generation of Flint children at risk of lifelong health and developmental problems.

We have to do better than this; we need to act now. Please join me in calling for Congress to pass legislation to speed up the recovery efforts in Flint.

We certainly have challenges to address as a country, but access to safe drinking water should not be on the list. Neither should clean air. Period.

And to have state and local officials ignore a major public health problem for months is just downright unacceptable.

The responsible parties need to be held accountable. But right now, more than anything, the people of Flint need Congress to act.
