Independent Party of Oregon Nominates Suzanne Bonamici For Congress

November 29, 2011

Beaverton, Ore (November 29, 2011) – The Independent Party of Oregon today announced its nomination of Suzanne Bonamici in the special election for Oregon’s First Congressional District.

“I welcome the nomination and the support of the Independent Party and their members. The work I’ve done to protect consumers and seniors and to support small businesses are priorities Oregonians share no matter what their party affiliation is. We all also know that government needs to tighten its belt, but we need to do it in the right way with Oregon values.

“We need to end the tax break for millionaires and instead protect Social Security and Medicare; we need to end tax breaks for big oil companies and instead invest in education for our children. These values aren’t partisan issues and my work has always been about doing what’s right – fighting for accountability, fairness, middle class families, consumers and small businesses. These are the right priorities and that’s what we need in Congress right now.”
